“Would anyone like to catch tomorrow’s sunrise “Would anyone like to catch tomorrow’s sunrise?” I distinctly remember Jim’s invitation spoken above the numerous conversations at the lobby of Camp Denali. My hand shot instantly upwards. ME. I turned towards a sixty something yo Jim Whetstone. That morning, I ended up helping with Jim’s cameras as we huffed and puffed up the mostly uphill 2-mile hike to Wonder Lake. The light was perfect and skies unusually clear. Yet, the best part was to have found another kindred spirit, mad enough to relish the 4am cold to photograph Denali in her alpenglow splendour. Jim writes Hannah and me a christmas greeting every December. Have a look at his work at capturedmoments.cc!

Nature is pretty. And, photographers unsurprising Nature is pretty.
And, photographers unsurprisingly work hard to seek out the few backdrops that don’t resemble Singapore.
We even wander overseas, chasing down rustic greenery and golden beaches.
Beauty, though is often in front of us.
I smile when couples (and photographers alike) revisit their own neighbourhood with fresh eyes and see an easily missed charm.
Thank you @tituslhy and @dawnchuachenye for sharing the red bricks and coniferous greens of Toh Yi estate!

EQUIPMENT GEEK OUT TIME: What is your favourite le EQUIPMENT GEEK OUT TIME: What is your favourite lens? - is a question I get often. My answer, an emphatic one, is the Zeiss 55mm f1.8. The focal range is perfect for photographing couples, drawing focus to their expressions. The glass is light and unobtrusive, and most importantly, the autofocus is quick and reliable. I had an absolute BLAST photographing Xide and Danielle, fully confident in a lens that I knew could keep up with their spirited dogs Bailey and Maggie. :)
